Top 5 networking tips
1. Be Confident
1. Be Confident
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, make sure you're confident with your skills and abilities. Talk to anyone and everyone, what's the worse that could happen!
2. Sell Yourself
Let everyone know what you're good at and what you do, be able to sell yourself in minutes, you want people to be interested in you!
2. Utilise your pre-existing networks
Whether it be your lecturers or fellow course members, they could be of use to you. Your lecturers will have expertise in your desired field so are a great place to start when looking for useful industry contacts or a starting point on good places to intern. Your peers are also in the same boat as you so it's great to pull your resources out and help each other out!
3. Use the Internet
The Internet boom has meant that entering the job market these days has a lot to do with cyberspace. Google useful job sites and use social media sites such as LinkedIn which are specifically career based. Social media sites Twitter and FaceBook are also great for networking.
4. Do your research
Make sure you know the key players in the industry you're interested in so that you're targeting the right people. This doesn't necessarily mean you should only target the people at the top but that you're making sure you're acquiring a useful art of networks!

Welcome!!
Hi guys and welcome to Spill the Tea!! Here you will be joined by Me Lady L
and my co-host Mr T in an online forum where we want you to feel free to
discuss anything and everything!! To spill the tea usually suggests the sharing
of gossip amongst a group of friends, picture the elderly women drinking tea
and gossiping about the latest new in the neighbourhood or the group of
teenagers after school having a laugh and sharing the onslaught of the day.
Spill the tea is a concept designed to make you feel comfortable with
interacting and sharing news and opinions with a group of friends that you'll
create here!! But we want it to be more than tea time gossip, or your usual
music blog, we want nitty gritty, current affairs that are grinding your gears
and you feel need to be addressed!!
So...how does it work you ask? Well Mr T and I (Lady L) have more than just
a blog to offer you; we also have a fortnightly radio show that will be
available as a podcast on Smoke Radio, The University of Westminster's amazing
radio show; run by students for students! Spill the Tea is a show that will
incorporate great music and great discussion, creating a vibe like none other!
So back to the actual spilling of the tea; well topics of discussion will be
set here on the blog for us all to discuss, the most popular will make it on
air where we can share opinions and great music. So if it's your studies, your
future or your finances that are weighing down on your mind, comment on the
blog, Spill the Tea!!! Don't forget the show is about music too, so share your
current faves so you can hear them on air and share the classic oldies, so that we can feature them in our Flashback Record segment. When it comes to the music policy think Hip
Hop, R & B, Grime, anything to get the party started!! The first of many
podcasts will be available to listen to online next week at Smoke Radio there will also be
a link here to take you there! For now comment below about what you'd like to
hear and what you'd like to discuss so we can all Spill the Tea!
P.S. Look out for the next blog post; we will be announcing the topic of our first podcast...TIP: it's designed to get you making friends and making moves!!
